Xylem and Fungi

He woke up inside of his backyard
He saw tress, and grass, and everything else you can imagine in your backyard
It's irrelevant when a moment doesn't take place in time
A context to it would be like your heart dropping when you see a police car on the freeway
He opened his eyes
In fact spiritual is not the word, it was close to natural
But natural is insane
A mailbox can appear natural
It was no awakening either
He certainly wasn't sleeping at a time like this
-but he was practicing practicing practicing-
He felt the grass that stuck his legs through his highschool gym shorts
He felt every maggot waiting for him to stay there long enough to decompose him
And the fungi that would be produced
He felt life slip in and out of him
And he only can recall the moment he opened his eyes
He remembers that at that point, death life death life
He was fasting and fasting
And sleep deprived
A real hallucination
When the real world becomes less real
And the fake world becomes more fake
He could swear he felt the bananas in his small intestine
But his xylem and phloem
Well they were having an orgasm

Day 1 (3/18/09)

A boy decides to quit smoking
1. He MUST throw his cigarettes out
2. The place in which the tobacco is thrown must be out of reach, otherwise man will dig through the garbage and smoke the cigarettes in 2 hours
3. He must refuse the temptation to smoke his "last cigarette", it is only a lie if man does not include this step
4. Man must distract every temptation, he has proven time and time that he has no will for this sort of thing
5. Man must not anticipate a bad day, for in fact, it will be beautiful, and he has many things to do
6. Worry about not smoking until man goes to bed for the day, and then repeat next day, and the next
7. Man must not drink coffee, he must drink tea, he has seen the movie "coffee and cigarettes too much"
8. Man must not listen to Tom Waits, period
9. Man must be around smoking, and get used to saying NO, MY BODY SAYS NO!
10. Man must realize that in no situation, can a cigarette make a situation MORE positive
11. Man must fight the headaches with aspirin or tea or something, or just deal with them
12. Soon he will feel drowsy, Soon he will be cranky and coughy, only if he lets himself
13. He must voice that he is quitting, so everyone can tell him to chill the fuck out when he is cranky
14. Fasting is worth it, if it will help not smoking after a meal
15. Start contemplating what he will do with his $1,820 extra he will have next year
16. He must drink lots of water, he has been poisoning himself for 2 years and 7 months, and must rid himself of the initial toxins in his body
17. He must eat mangoes, they hydrate the lungs, and help restore them
18. He must avoid gas stations at all costs, and eat light meals
19. He must accept a hookah willingly, but not forcefully, and he must not seek one
20. He must prepare for the 3 days it usually takes him to get past the urge. He must watch time pass, because until that time, he will not be a free man, he will be in isolation, and behind bars.

Milwaukee

Milwaukee, orange bridge and skyline
Polish flats on the shoreline
Spanish architect and a German statue
Ghettos and ghettos always
Juneau hid you
And threw his French brie at Chicago

Milwaukee, when I walk through Greenfield
I love trees as much as you do
Why did you let the bastards move west?
How did you keep that heavy steel buoyant?

Milwaukee, are you high?
You sold Pabst Blue Ribbon!
Do you really expect love art love Summerfest
without it?
They listen to the lies of Miller
Because you fucking sleep all day Milwaukee
We want to drink Lake Michigan
Before we go to churches

Milwaukee, are you going to keep your smokestacks
When Obama shoots them all down?
When you built the new interchange
Did you forget the onramp to the 21st century?

Milwaukee, remember when everyone killed each other?
I think your cold made them crazy
Remember when you tripped my grandma?
She broke her leg,
Thanks

Milwaukee, Miller Park is stupid
I-94 smells like yeast
And you never watch the Brewers anymore
You put new bricks on city hall
And riding down Wisconsin Ave.
I see your houses
They get new and west
Oppressed depressed impressed farms

Milwaukee, Wolskis and Conejitos
A tea place named after rock, paper, scissors
Cross legged heads are the grass
On a summer day sipping Rishi
A giant octopus guards the shore
Even you, Milwaukee, have a wavy blue collar

Milwaukee, one day my ashes will sleep in your grass
Or Lake Michigan
Making friends with the Whitnall Park trees
And I too will be your Fall leaves

(this is not done yet)

Milwaukee Beer Clocks

In bedrooms with closed curtains
Everyone becomes a bit crazy
The morning I slept in cold shorts
I realized the outside has nothing to offer me
I would be facing more than just this day
And Steve's strings diagnosing dementia
Away from my pillow
Scary futures

Why is unconsciousness
Believable and enjoyable
When you have knowledge of tomorrow
And a 24 hour star
With a 24 hour clock
That ticks my head awake most nights

Am I the clock?
The 7 that my arm points to
Would be rainbow colored
If clocks knew about Milwaukee beer
Would they still count the afternoon?

We Are All Going To Forget

The flat sunrise
The flat line
The flat lung
The flat line

The dead shower
The dead time
The dead days
The dead time

The real broke
The real feeling
The real death
The real feeling

The expensive school
The expensive life
The expensive dinner
The expensive death

The best girl
The best life
The best art
The best death

The forgotten thoughts
The forgotten days
The forgotten time

And suddenly
We are all going to forget

Running Shoes

You pill to feel the breeze
I feel the faint colors, the breeze
      ,the trees
still look brown
Her yellow teeth
And a lighter that's out of juice
    I'm out of juice
You wrap a cock around a bed pole
To shut the fire alarm off
Your fists paint your head every night
And when you grab her shoulders
Your stomach crashes every time
The light in your eyes causes you pain
You miss the outside world
The strange night
Where you lick cats that taste like rum
And run into the door
You need good shoes
You've been running for years
Your knees don't hurt
Because your old

Play Songs

All of these intervals of our lives
We recall our deaths
And live correctly
The clock only ticks clockwise
A rare sunrise
You squeeze your eyes
And the knot in your stomache
Justifies your soul

You drive slowly
And become late to things
Throw cigarettes at squirrels

They eat those sometimes

Play songs
Play songs
Play songs
Play

2 socks

At night I don't feel younger
My bodies getting colder
I have a pile of socks next to my bed
2 socks for every day I have lived
A few days in the past
And a pile of socks next to my bookshelf
Number my future days in 2's

I lay down in the grass
I let them pretend
That someone is more insane

I draw pictures of fake things
Things that don't happen
I feel that they lie to you, not me
I'm just telling the truth

I cry in cars
I breathe and look at trees
and I think

I battle with my own mind
I get panic attacks when I read Descartes
Simply because Descartes is dead

I'm nervous to leave again
I'll never wake up to you again
